The Freedom Game®

Freedom is not a feeling.
It’s a system.

A practical framework for making your money, time, work and business support the life you actually want. Define your win. Make deliberate moves. Then give yourself permission to enjoy what you’ve built.

You don’t have to play somebody else’s game.

Game 1 · Play to Win

Build towards a win that means something to you.

Your version of freedom might be a different working week, a stronger financial position or a business that needs less of your time. These four moves help you turn that ambition into a plan you can act on.

  1. Define the win

Describe the life you want in concrete terms. Know what it needs from your money, time and work—and what would count as enough.

What would make this a win for you?

  2. See the whole board

Look at your starting point: income, commitments, family, energy and the ways your goals help or compete with each other.

What is helping—and what is holding you back?

  3. Choose the next move

Compare your options and their trade-offs. Choose the action that puts you in a stronger position for the win you want.

Which move matters most right now?

  4. Build the system

Make progress repeatable. Put routines, processes, automation or support around the plan so it can survive a difficult week.

What will help this keep working?

The transition

Win the game.

When the outcome you defined becomes true, recognise it. Celebrate it. You don’t have to move the goalposts because someone else’s version of success is bigger. You’re allowed to call this a win.

Game 2 · Hold the Dream

You’ve built it.
Now make sure you get to live it.

You are not supposed to stay in intensive build mode forever. Once you’ve won a game that matters to you, the focus shifts to protecting, maintaining and enjoying it—and adapting when life changes.

Protect the win

Spot what could threaten the freedom you’ve created and put sensible safeguards in place.

Maintain what matters

Keep the habits, boundaries and systems that make this version of your life work.

Enjoy the dream

Make room to live the life you worked for. Enjoyment belongs in the plan too.

Review & adapt

Check that the dream still fits. If it changes, you can define a new win and play again.

You can be in both games at once. Hold the dreams you’ve already built while working towards a new one. Your whole life doesn’t have to be finished before a win counts.

The framework in real life

Sometimes the right move looks like a step backwards.

“You can win the financial game and still lose the life you were trying to build.”

I wanted to own my home, build more passive income and move my family to Dorset, where I grew up. For a long time, I treated those goals as though they had to happen in the most financially efficient order.

Moving meant higher outgoings. But Dorset wasn’t a reward waiting at the end of financial freedom. It was where I wanted our actual life to happen.

Seeing the whole board changed the decision. Being close to family and building our day-to-day life in the right place mattered enough to make the move.

The win: living where I wanted our family life to happen.
Hold the Dream: protect that life while continuing to work on income, debt and long-term financial security.
